Schlickmann Construction's in-house carpentry team handles everything from custom built-ins to historic millwork restoration. We craft pieces in our shop and install them with the precision of a furniture-grade finish.

Most contractors subcontract carpentry. We don't. Our in-house carpentry team has been with us for years — they know our quality standards, work safely on sites, and deliver finishes that hold up for decades.

From simple shelving to full library walls, mudroom built-ins to coffered ceilings, we design, build, and install custom millwork that matches your home's architectural style. Period-appropriate for historic homes, clean and modern for contemporary spaces.

Common Questions About Carpentry

Yes. We've restored and reproduced 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s trim profiles in homes across Concord, Lexington, Andover, and Boston's western suburbs. We can match an existing profile from a single sample piece.

Absolutely. Library walls, fireplace flanking units, and full-height built-ins are some of our most-requested projects. Pricing typically runs $4,000–$15,000 per full wall depending on door/drawer detail and finish.

Both. Painted millwork is pre-primed in the shop, installed, then final-coated on-site for clean joints. Stained work is fully finished in the shop where dust control is better, then installed and touch-up finished.

Simple shelving units: 2–3 weeks from order. Detailed built-ins with doors and drawers: 4–6 weeks. Coordination with paint cure time is the biggest variable.
